Orange Firm Had Part In Moon Rock Project
Orange had its small part in the wonderful moon venture last week.
The environmental chamber in which the box of moon rocks were placed was refrigerated by Neil Sullivan Associates of 36 North Day Street. The box was opened Saturday in the quarantine center in Houston.
The refrigeration keeps the chamber at the right temperature and humidity. A Weehawken firm made the chamber and Sullivan employees put in the refrigeration at Weehawken.
Neil Sullivan, president of the local firm, said that his company makes many environmental chambers and not long ago made one for the Public Health Building in New York.
Astronaut's Father.
Sullivan, program chairman for the Orange Rotary Club, said that he has asked Buzz Aldrin's father, Edwin Aldrin Sr., to speak to the Rotary club and Mr. Aldrin has accepted. The date hasn't been definitely settled yet, "depending on the activities of he boys", said the father, but it is expected the astronaut's father will be a guest of the club in September. Mr. Aldrin Sr. told Sullivan he thought most of the activities would be in October.
The Aldrin's family formerly lived in Upper Montclair where "buzz" attended Edgemont and Mt. Hebron schools. He graduated in 1947 from Montclair High School.
